Kaidan In

Kaidan In is a venerable Buddhist temple in Dazaifu. It is said to have begun when the precept ordination platform was established as a place for monks to receive formal Buddhist precepts when Ganjin, the distinguished Chinese Buddhist priest, came to Japan during the Nara period. Located near Dazaifu Tenmangu, many monks have long undertaken austere training here and walked the path of the Buddha. The serene precincts continue to be cherished by those seeking peace of mind.
