Fukushima Funakamori 1 Aizuwakamatsu, Aizuwakamatsu-shi, Ichimomachi, Oaza Tsuruga
History
Aizu Soja Jinja is a shrine that has long been the chief guardian deity of the Aizu region, gathering the faith of the people since ancient times. Situated in the sacred grove that watches over Aizuwakamatsu, a castle town, it continues to be visited by those praying for the peace and stability of the community. It is said that the samurai of Aizu would always visit this shrine before battle to pray for the safety of their families and for long-lasting military fortune. Even today, it is deeply beloved by the local people, and during the spring grand festival, it is filled with many visitors. I too continue to convey the wishes of all people to the kami while feeling the history of Aizu.
