History
Kanno-ji is an ancient shrine situated in Noda-cho, Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Although the name includes the character for 'temple,' this is a remnant of the syncretic Buddhist-Shinto period, and it is now revered as a shrine by the local community. Surrounded by the abundant natural beauty of the Izumi region, it has long been worshipped as the guardian deity of the area. The Noda district has been agriculturally prosperous since ancient times, and Kanno-ji has received the sincere devotion of those praying for abundant harvests.
