History

Maegami-ji is a historic temple known as the 64th pilgrimage site of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Circuit. Located at the foot of Mount Ishizuchi, this temple has served as a center of Mount Ishizuchi worship, welcoming many ascetics and pilgrims throughout history. Possessing a unique atmosphere where mountain worship and Buddhism blend together, it is also known as the starting point for climbing Mount Ishizuchi.
