Suba Asugi Jinja

Suba Asugi Jinja is an ancient shrine that has been enshrined in the Hara district of Tsuruga since antiquity. The shrine's name is somewhat unusual, and it is possible that local dialects and ancient language remain preserved in it. Since ancient times, Tsuruga has flourished as an important port town on the Japan Sea coast, a place where many people have crossed paths. This shrine, standing at such a crossroads of traffic, must surely have continuously protected the safety of travelers and local people. In the quiet Hara district, it continues to be cherished as the guardian deity of the community.
