History
Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha is the head shrine of approximately 1,300 Sengen shrines throughout Japan. It enshrines Konohananosukuyabimeno Mikoto, the deity of Mount Fuji, and has long been revered as the center of Mount Fuji faith. Backed by the spiritual power of Mount Fuji as a sacred peak, it has received devoted worship from the imperial court, and it is said that military commanders such as Minamoto no Yoritomo and Takeda Shingen visited to pray for victory in battle. In particular, it has a history of protecting the safety and peace of people as the deity that calms the volcanic activity of Mount Fuji.
