History
Yoshimizu Jinja is nestled deep within Yoshino Mountain, a shrine imbued with the weight of history. Originally flourishing as a sacred site of Shugendo mountain asceticism, it later became known as the imperial residence of the Southern Court under Emperor Go-Daigo, a place of great historical significance. Legend has it that Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Shizuka Gozen, and Benkei spent time in this place.
