History

Goshoji is known as the 78th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage and is an ancient temple. Ippen Shonin, the founder of the Jishu sect, stopped here during his pilgrimage and spread the teachings of nenbutsu. Located on a high plateau overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, it has long been cherished by people praying for maritime safety and travel safety. The beautiful Akashi Kaikyo Bridge can also be seen from the temple grounds, and it continues to be a spiritual support for many pilgrims and visitors in modern times.
