An ancient temple of the Tendai school that flourished as a subsidiary lodge of Enryakuji on Mt. Hiei. Also known as the memorial temple of Akechi Mitsuhide, it stands quietly in Sakamoto. Having consoled the spirits of samurai who traversed the Sengoku period and preserved countless cultural treasures, it is a temple rich in history. Its beautiful garden and substantial buildings soothe the hearts of visitors.
