Kanazawa Jinja is a shrine well known as the deity of learning, situated in a beautiful corner of Kenroku Garden. It enshrines Sugawara Michizane as its principal kami and is a shrine of distinguished origin that began as the academy of the Maeda clan. Walking alongside the culture nurtured in the castle town of Kaga, a domain of one million koku, it has long been beloved by many scholars and literati. Within the precincts is a beautiful pond that brings peace through the changing of seasons. Particularly during plum blossom season, beautiful flowers bloom in tribute to Michizane, drawing many visitors wishing for academic success.
