Mitaki-tera

Ah, Mitaki-tera! This is a temple of the Shingon sect, known as its name suggests for three beautiful waterfalls. Since ancient times it has prospered as a place of ascetic practice, and has been cherished particularly as a sacred site where one purifies the heart amid the clear sound of the waterfalls' water. Each of the three waterfalls has its own character, and visitors can purify body and mind while experiencing the power and beauty of nature. For the people of Hiroshima, this remains a precious sacred site offering the experience of rich nature even while located within an urban area.
