History
Sueyoshi Gū is enshrined in a historic location near Shuri Castle, a venerable shrine continuing from the Ryukyu Kingdom era. Standing on the elevated heights of Shuri as if watching over the streets of Naha, it exudes the dignity of a guardian deity of the royal capital. The royal family and nobility held deep faith in this shrine, and it is said that many people visited to pray for advancement in academics and martial arts. Even today, it is cherished as the local tutelary deity, quietly watching over the culture and history of Shuri.
