History
Gansho-an stands in Karanida in Obuse, an ancient temple surrounded by beautiful nature in Shinshu. It is renowned as the place where ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai spent his final years and painted the ceiling artwork "Eight-Directional Phoenix." It is also famous for housing the mausoleum of the warring states general Fukushima Masanori, and has welcomed numerous worshippers while honoring the general's memorial.
