History
Joroku-ji is an ancient temple in Tokushima, known as one of the eighty-eight sacred temples of the Shikoku pilgrimage route. This temple, read as "joroku-ji," is said to derive its name from the Joroku (one jo and six shaku) measurement of Buddhist statues, as its name suggests. As a temple on the Shikoku pilgrimage circuit, it is a sacred place visited by many pilgrims. It is a grateful temple that purifies the spirit within its serene grounds and allows visitors to forget the noise of daily life.
