History

Ii Jinja is an ancient shrine of Totomi Province with a long and distinguished history. The shrine name 'Ii,' pronounced this way, is said to derive from the Ii Valley River that flows through this area. Situated in Inasa, known as the birthplace of the Ii clan, it has been revered since ancient times as the guardian deity of the region. During the Sengoku period, it is said that Ii Naomasa and other Ii clan warlords visited to pray, and the shrine was also worshipped as a deity of military fortune.
