History
Koshoiji is a celebrated temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, standing beautifully on the hill of Yagoto. Since its founding in the early Edo period, it has flourished as the hereditary temple of the Owari Tokugawa clan, a temple of distinguished status. The vast precincts are lined with a five-story pagoda and main hall, and their solemn appearance purifies the hearts of pilgrims. Known for its beauty through the four seasons, especially during cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, many people visit. Devotion to Kobo Daishi is deep-rooted, and the monthly observance on the 21st draws large crowds of worshippers.
