Moto Mishima Jinja

Moto Mishima Jinja in Negishi, Taito Ward, is a historic shrine said to have enshrined a branch spirit from Mishima Taisha in Izu Province. During the Edo period, it served as the tutelary shrine of Negishi village, receiving devoted worship from local residents and earning the deep reverence of samurai and merchants alike. Through Tokyo's modernization in the Meiji era, it has been cherished as a shrine that preserved the compassion and traditions of downtown culture. Enshrining Ōyamatsumi no Kami, the mountain and sea deity, it is known as a sacred place that fulfills manifold wishes through its divine virtue. Today, seasonal festivals are carefully transmitted as occasions that deepen community bonds.
