Ikaruga Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined in Ikaruga no Sato, a place closely associated with Prince Shotoku. This area is near Horyu-ji Temple and has long been known as sacred ground where Buddhist culture flourished. The origin of the name Ikaruga contains various theories, but it carries the meaning of a peaceful village where beautiful doves dance gracefully.
