History
Ogikubo Hachiman Jinja is a Hachiman shrine beloved by the people of Ogikubo as their tutelary deity. It enshrines Emperor Ojin as its principal deity and is known as a kami of military prowess and victory. This historic shrine dating back to the Edo period once served as the chief tutelary shrine of Ogikubo Village, gathering the faith of villagers. The grounds feature an impressive main sanctuary, and residents visit throughout the four seasons. Particularly during the autumn grand festival, lively celebrations are held, making it an important place for deepening community bonds. Despite ongoing urbanization, this wonderful shrine continues to maintain its traditional warm atmosphere.
