Raiyama Sennyo-ji

Located on Raiyama in Itoshima, Sennyo-ji is an ancient temple with Kannon as its principal object of worship. As the name Raiyama suggests, it has been connected with faith in the thunder deity and has long been revered as a sacred mountain governing weather. The Kannon faith that gave rise to the name "Sennyo-ji," deriving from the belief that one thousand Kannon statues are enshrined, is known for its compassionate divine benefits that receive the various wishes of the people. The grounds deep in the mountains display their beauty with each season, and continue to be cherished by many as a place for spiritual discipline to purify the heart and as a sacred healing site.
