Ōizumi Hikawa Jinja

The Hikawa Jinja enshrined in Ōizumi, Nerima Ward is a venerable shrine dedicated to Susanoo no Mikoto. It is said to have been invoked from Hikawa Jinja, the first shrine of Musashi Province, and has long been revered as the guardian deity of this region. During the Edo period, in this agriculturally prosperous area, it was worshipped as a deity of abundant harvests and protection from disasters. After the Meiji-era separation of Shinto and Buddhism, it took its present form and has walked together with the development of the community. The grounds are adorned with seasonal flowers and serve as a cherished place of respite for local people. Annual rituals are carefully preserved and passed down, serving as a place that deepens community bonds.
