Wakayama Itogori Takayamachi 575 Koya
History
Henjokouin is one of the venerable lodging temples on Koya, a sacred place of spiritual practice embraced by the light of Kobo Daishi. True to its name, which means "light that illuminates everywhere," it has long been revered as a temple hall where the teachings of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism permeate every corner. Strict spiritual practice has been maintained within the temple grounds since ancient times, and many monks have attained enlightenment here. Even today, one can experience sutra copying and meditation, making it an excellent place to purify one's mind away from the chaos of urban life. It is a precious sacred place where one can contemplate one's inner Buddha-nature while enveloped in the compassionate light of Kobo Daishi.
