Choкuji

Chokuji, situated in the Shinano-i region, is an ancient temple known for the merciful protection of Kannon. While the name Chokuji appears throughout Japan, all such temples share a deep connection with Kannon worship. As the place name Shionosaki suggests, this area flourished long ago as the Salt Road. Travelers likely offered prayers here for safe passage. The warm gaze of Kannon continues to gently embrace visitors today.
