History
Hikosan Jingu is a shrine of distinguished standing enshrined near the summit of Mount Hiko. Long known as a sacred site of Shugendo, it is a spiritual mountain where many ascetics have undergone rigorous training. With Amaterasu Omikami, Izanagi no Mikoto, and Izanami no Mikoto as its enshrined deities, it has been revered as the 'First God of Japan.' The grounds, enveloped by the rich nature of Mount Hiko, purify the hearts of visitors and bestow strong spiritual power. As a sacred site of mountain worship, it continues to gather much faith even today.
