Nakanotake Jinja

Gunma Shimonita-machi Kamikosakashita 1248 Kanra District

History

Nestled on the mountainside of Mount Nakanotake, this ancient shrine enshrines Okuninushi no Mikoto and is renowned for its potent blessings in matters of love and commercial success. During the Edo period, it attracted the deep faith of the region, which prospered through sericulture, drawing numerous merchants and artisans as worshippers. Within the shrine grounds stands a colossal statue of Daikoku reaching twenty meters in height—one of Japan's largest—commanding an awe-inspiring presence. Though constructed during the Heisei era, this Daikoku deity represents a fusion of ancient Daikoku faith with contemporary wishes. Powered by the spiritual energy of the mountain and the blessings of Daikoku, this shrine draws especially profound devotion from those engaged in commerce.
