History
Samukawa Jinja is the primary shrine of Sagami Province with a history spanning approximately 1,600 years, and has long been revered as the protective deity of protection from all eight directions. Since the era of Empress Jingu, it has received deep reverence from the imperial court, and it is said that warriors such as Minamoto no Yoriie and Tokugawa Ieyasu also visited to offer prayers. Known for its divine virtue of removing calamities from all eight directions and dispelling all misfortunes and disasters, this is one of the most prominent ancient shrines in the Kanto region, drawing numerous pilgrims from throughout the nation.
