History
Inaba Jinja is an ancient shrine boasting over a thousand years of history as the guardian deity of Gifu. Its primary kami is Inishi-no-mikoto, known as the imperial prince of Emperor Suinin. During the Sengoku period, it is said to have been visited by both Saitō Dōsan and Oda Nobunaga, and was deeply revered as the protective deity of Gifu Castle town. At the annual festival in April, a magnificent mikoshi procession takes place, turning the streets of Gifu into a celebration. Situated at the foot of Kinkazan, Inaba Jinja remains beloved by countless people as Gifu's representative shrine of profound divine efficacy.
