Mizutani Jinja

Mizutani Jinja is a sessha enshrined within the sacred precinct of Kasuga Taisha. While located within Kasuga Taisha's grounds, it receives devotion from many worshippers through its own divine virtues. As its name 'Mizutani' suggests, it has been enshrined for ages in the forest of Kasuga as a deity overseeing the blessings of pure water. Together with the deities of Kasuga Taisha, it is one of the important shrines protecting the ancient capital of Nara. It is particularly said to bestow blessings on the advancement of performing arts and technical skills, and is devoutly worshipped by many artists and craftspeople. Within the sacred atmosphere of Kasuga's divine precinct, it is a special place where one can worship with a quiet heart.
