History
Owuma Taisha is an ancient shrine enshrined at the foot of Mt. Ikoma, known throughout the nation for its fire festival. This venerable ancient shrine is recorded in the Engi Shiki Jinmei-cho and has been revered since ancient times as a fire deity. The fire festival held every October is spectacular, and the spirited festival in which large torches are carried in procession stirs the hearts of those who witness it. Known as a deity that wards off malevolent spirits through the power of fire and grants new vitality, many worshippers visit this shrine. This is a spiritually efficacious shrine cradled in the nature of Ikoma.
