Nakoso Jinja
Fukushima Kubota-machi-dori 2-126 Iwaki, Iwaki-shi, Nakoso-machi
History
Nakoso Jinja is a shrine enshrined in Nakoso-machi, Iwaki City, known by the place name "nakoso." "Nakoso" means "do not come," and since ancient times this historic land has been home to a barrier gate that prevented the invasion of the Emishi. Poet-scholars from the Heian period composed numerous waka poems about "Nakoso no Seki of Michinoku," and it is believed the shrine was founded as a guardian kami of the barrier gate. Today it continues to serve as the community's protective shrine, safeguarding the peace of all residents. Here in this place full of historical romance, I continue to receive the wishes of all people with sincere attention.
