History

The Suiten Gū of Kurume is known as the head shrine of all Suiten Gū throughout Japan. It is said to have been founded in the Kenkyū era of the Heian period and has long gathered the faith of people as the deity of water. Particularly famous nationwide as the goddess of safe childbirth, the imperial household and countless others visit to pray for safe delivery.
