History
Imamiya Ebisuјinja is revered as the guardian deity of Osaka merchants and the honzon of 'Ebisu-san.' According to tradition, it was established during the reign of Emperor Suiko by Prince Shotoku as a protective deity of the west when Shitennoji Temple was founded. In particular, the annual Toka Ebisu in January is famous for the call 'Shobai Hanjoude, Sasa Motte Koi.' The sight of over one million worshippers crowding the grounds is truly a symbol of Osaka.
