History

Ishiura Jinja is known as the oldest shrine in Kanazawa. Its founding is said to date back to the Kofun period, and it has served as the tutelary deity protecting the land since people first settled in the Kanazawa area. The primary enshrined deities include Omononushi no Kami. Located near both Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park, the shrine is visited by many during Kanazawa sightseeing tours and is affectionately known as 'Kima-chan' by locals. The shrine grounds contain sacred trees hundreds of years old, bearing witness to its long history. It is also famous as a power spot for romantic bonds, particularly popular among younger visitors. Truly one of Kanazawa's representative shrines, it has walked hand in hand with the history of Kanazawa.
