Nanko-bo

Nanko-bo is a historic temple known as the 55th pilgrimage site of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Circuit. Located in the center of Imabari, it is deeply connected to the history of this region which flourished through maritime commerce. In Imabari, facing the Seto Inland Sea, it has long been cherished as a place where sailors and merchants came to pray for safety. As an important pilgrimage site along the Shikoku pilgrimage route, it is a sacred place where many pilgrims visit seeking peace of mind. It continues to inherit the faith of people giving thanks for the blessings of the sea and praying for navigation safety, standing as a historic and sacred site.
