Higashine Jinja
History
Higashine Jinja is enshrined at the center of Higashine city and possesses an ancient history, being the very origin of the city's name. This land has long been known as fertile ground where large trees put down deep roots, and the shrine has been revered as a deity governing the blessings of this natural abundance. When fruit tree cultivation, the region's specialty product, became widespread, the shrine gathered the faith of many farming families as a place to pray for abundant harvests. Today, as the protective deity of the "Fruit Kingdom of Higashine," it continues to attract worshippers praying for bountiful yields of cherries and other fruits. Having walked alongside the region's development, this shrine has become an irreplaceable source of spiritual support for the people of Higashine city.
