History

Shidoji is an ancient temple known as the 86th sacred site of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Pilgrimage. True to its name, which means "fulfilling aspirations," it is revered as a temple that grants wishes. Due to its location near the sea, it has long been cherished by people praying for maritime safety and prosperity in fishing. It is also venerated as a deity of learning, with many students and exam takers visiting to pray for academic success. As an important sacred site in the latter stages of the Shikoku pilgrimage, it continues to be a spiritual support for many pilgrims.
