Katsuragi Nikami Jinja

Katsuragi Nikami Jinja is an ancient shrine situated at the foot of the beautiful Mount Nikami. Mount Nikami has been sacred since ancient times, and is especially known as a sacred site for "Nisso Kan," the contemplation of the sun setting beautifully. This shrine was established to receive the blessings of this sacred mountain. The enshrined deities are Ohotsuhiko no Mikoto and Ohotsuhime no Mikoto, divine couple known for their efficacy in matchmaking and marital harmony. Mount Nikami was also important in ancient times as a place of funeral rites and has been a place where people pray for the peace of departed souls. This is a special shrine where one can sense deep history and mystery together with the beautiful mountain landscape.
