Itateate Hyozu Jinja

This shrine, revered as the Soja of Himeji, has long served as the tutelary deity of Harima Province. The distinctive feature of this sanctuary is its enshrinement of two deities—Itateate and Hyozu—known for their power to grant military fortune and ward off malevolent spirits. In this castle town of Himeji, both samurai and townspeople alike have made pilgrimage to pray for peace and prosperity. Today, as the guardian deity of the region, it continues to be beloved by many.
