Komo Jinja
History
Komo Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined in Otei, Nakatsu City, with deep connections to Usa Shrine. There is a legend that during the Three Kingdoms Conquest of Empress Jingu, a divine oracle was received at this location, and it has long been held in high reverence by the imperial court. It is particularly known for the legend of the komo makura (reed pillow), and is also famous for having a pond where komo plants naturally grow as a sacred offering. The Komo Jinja Procession Festival held annually is also called the 'Dobroke Festival,' and ancient and formal rituals continue to be passed down to this day. In the shrine's sacred pond, komo plants still grow verdantly, creating a divine atmosphere. As a guardian deity of the local community, this shrine continues to be beloved by many people.
