History

Kashihara Jingu is a relatively modern yet prestigious shrine enshrined in Kashihara, considered the birthplace of Japanese civilization. It was established in the 23rd year of the Meiji era to enshrine the first Emperor Jinmu and his empress. Built at the foot of Mount Unebi, where Emperor Jinmu is said to have first established his capital, it has become a sacred place deeply connected to Japan's founding mythology. The main hall, built by relocating the Kashokoro and Shinka-den from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, is truly sublime. During the new year, it is bustling with many visitors, offering a special place where one can feel the origins of Japan.
