Niiukawa Kamikami Jinja is enshrined deep in the mountains of Kawakami Village in Yoshino District and serves as the main shrine of the water deity. Among the three shrines, it is situated in the deepest mountain recesses and has long been revered by the imperial court as a place of pure water sources. It is believed to be a sacred site where the dragon deity resides, and has played the most important role in prayers for rain.
