Horaiji

Horaiji Temple, built on Horaiji Mountain in Shinshiro, is a special sacred site where the entire mountain is revered as a spiritual realm. It is an ancient temple said to have been founded in the Nara period and is also famous for its legends relating to the birth of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Atop the mountain, reached after climbing 1,300 stone steps, stands a magnificent Nioh Gate and Main Hall, their grandeur moving the hearts of worshippers. The natural beauty of Horaiji Mountain is exquisite through all four seasons, particularly breathtaking during the seasons of new green leaves and autumn foliage. It is truly a place of spiritual power, meditation, and prayer.
