Etchu Ichinomiya Imizu Jinja

Etchu Ichinomiya Imizu Jinja is enshrined within Takaoka Castle Park. As the highest-ranking shrine of Etchu Province, it enshrines Futakami no Kami. Since ancient times, it has been revered as the guardian deity of the reclamation and agriculture of the Imizu Plain, and is mentioned in the Man'yoshu poetry collection. It was relocated to Kojyo Park, the site of the former Takaoka Castle, during the Meiji period, and is now also known as a famous cherry blossom viewing site. Living up to its status as an Ichinomiya, it has gathered the faith of many people as the tutelary shrine of Etchu Province. It is a special shrine where one can feel the sacred divine presence continuing from ancient times, especially alongside the spring blossoms.
