Ominato Jinja

Ominato Jinja is an historic shrine situated on Yasushima in Mikuni-cho, Sakai City, facing the Sea of Japan. Mikuni Port flourished from ancient times as a port of call for kitamaebune merchant ships, and this shrine has long been revered by sailors as a deity of the sea. Facing the rough waves and winds of the Sea of Japan, it has continued to offer prayers for the safety of those engaged in fishing and maritime trade.
