Menuma Shotensanzan Kankioin
History
Menuma Shotensanzan Kankioin is an ancient temple of the Shingon sect enshrining Shoten (the sacred deity). Founded in the late Heian period, it is renowned as a place of miraculous efficacy where Shoten grants business prosperity and marital harmony, drawing numerous pilgrims from throughout the Kanto region. The Shotendo Hall, designated as a National Treasure, is also called "Saitama Nikko" for its magnificent decorative carvings that overwhelm viewers with their beauty. Shoten, also known as Kangiten, is worshipped as a compassionate Buddha who fulfills people's wishes. The precincts are enveloped in a solemn atmosphere where pilgrims feel their hearts purified upon visiting, making it one of the most spiritually significant sites in the Kanto region.
