Shonaiji

Shonaiji is enshrined in Tsuruoka-shi and is a venerable shrine deeply connected to the history of the Shonai region. The daimyo and samurai who ruled this area held strong faith in it, and it has long been revered as the guardian deity of the region. Having walked alongside the development of the castle town of Tsuruoka, the shrine is known for its divine virtues of martial fortune and family prosperity. The historic grounds convey to visitors a solemn atmosphere and powerful divine protection.
