History
Hiroshima Prefecture Gokoku Jinja is a shrine enshrined within Hiroshima Castle ruins park, dedicated to the war dead from Hiroshima Prefecture. Since its founding in the Meiji period, it has been cherished as a sacred place imbued with wishes for regional development and peace. Though destroyed by the atomic bombing, it was reconstructed after the war and now serves as a spiritual support for the people of Hiroshima Prefecture. This shrine, standing in the historically significant location of Hiroshima Castle, is visited by many as a place to remember the past and pray for peace in the future. It is also known as a beautiful cherry blossom viewing spot during springtime.
