Ishitsutsukuwake Jinja
History
Ishitsutsukuwake Jinja, read as "iwatsutsukuwake," is a shrine bearing a very ancient and dignified name. It is situated in Ishikawa Town of Ishikawa District, a land deeply connected to "stone," where belief in the spiritual power of stone and faith in the deity of the land have taken root since ancient times. The name "Tsutsukowake" preserves the resonance of ancient language, telling of this land's considerable history. Ishikawa Town is enriched by the blessings of the Abukuma River, and the shrine has long watched over agriculture and regional development. Situated in Shimosen where pure spring water flows, it continues to gather the faith of people giving thanks for the blessings of water, stone, and the land—a shrine of distinguished tradition.
