Dairyuu-ji

Dairyuu-ji is a venerable ancient temple situated in Tairyuu-cho, Kagoshima City. True to its name, it is enshrined as a temple dedicated to the Dragon Kami, and from antiquity it has been revered as a spiritual site that presides over rain-bringing prayers and water's blessings. The dragon, ascending to heaven and bringing rain, is a divine beast that has especially gathered the deep faith of those engaged in agriculture. The place name Tairyuu-cho itself is said to derive from this temple's dragon faith. Overlooking the majestic form of Sakurajima from within the precincts, the Dragon Kami continues to deliver people's wishes to heaven.
