Futami Okitama Jinja

Futami Okitama Jinja has long been cherished as a place of purification before visiting Ise Shrine. The enshrined deity is Sarutahiko Okami, and this place, famous for the Meoto Iwa rocks, is beloved by many as a sacred site for matchmaking and marital harmony. The offshore Meoto Iwa rocks are also known as an excellent viewpoint for sunrise, and the sunrise around the summer solstice is particularly spectacular. Since ancient times, it has been customary to purify oneself at this beach before visiting Ise Shrine. Each time I see this beautiful coastline and mystical Meoto Iwa rocks, my heart feels cleansed.
